Update to Family Calendar

I made this family birthday calendar in 2007 as a Christmas gift. I occasionally get someone asking where in the world I got the stars, so below the picture is an update to where I got them. If you would like a link to the original post... click HERE.

**UPDATE**
4.2011
I talked to the couple that sells the stars and they gave me permission to give out their info if you are interested in ordering the stars I used on this project. I got them from Heart & Soul Crafts. They don't have an actual store or website so you have to call Roger 801.726.0577 to order and send a check or money order to get your stars. They sell to a few local shops and go to craft fairs/boutiques. Check out their Facebook page HERE. If you have any other question, give me a shout!

Valentine's Dinner Decor

Happy Valentine's Day everyone! I hosted some friends over for dinner and had a little fun with the decorating. The tissue paper pom poms were a first and I had to show them off even though you can tell they are my first because they are ovals instead of round and kind of skiwampus but I love them all the same.

I used those cool Command Clips to hang all the pom poms to the ceiling. I was pleasantly surprised... they sure have an awesome hold. Click HERE to see the one's I used.

I bought the red tulle at Walmart for $0.97 a yard (3 yards) and just twisted it around with some fake white rose petals that I bought at the dollar store. I bought the 2 red candle holders at the DI (thrift store) for $0.75 each and the other tall tapered candle holders and red candles, I bought from the dollar store. Then sprinkled the rest of the rose petals over the whole thing. I love how it turned out. :) We had kids there too, so I set up a "kids" table but it wasn't near as cute, but it did have one of those fake candles and rose petals... hehe. We ate biscuit personal pizza's and yummy salad for dinner and drank a Sprite and cranberry juice drink in wine glasses. The kids even had mini wine goblets that I found at the DI. It was a fun night!

(How do you like all my mis-matched chairs...hehehe)

Tea Cup Pin Cushion

I made this sweet tea cup pin cushion just for myself. I don't make too many things for myself, but i couldn't resist trying it. I think I first saw them on Etsy... I could seriously look at that website all day long!!

Anyways, I bought the tea cup set at the DI (thrift store) for under $1.50. I glued the cup to the saucer with Gorilla glue (which I really didn't like) so I could use the saucer as a catch all for little buttons and other sewing stuff.

I used 2 different colors of felt and rolled them up and stuffed them in the cup. I didn't glue because it was a snug fit but I might in the future.

I just love how it turned out, what about you?!!

Preschool Valentine's

So Valentine's is coming up quick and I thought I'd share something I made last year, but never got around to posting. My daughter's preschool valentines!

I found these 3 Vday clear stamps at JoAnn's for $1 each and just had to have them. So I stamped my little heart out and colored away. I LOVE how they turned out.

I saw the bag idea on Pebbles In My Pocket's blog and just had to make one for her. It turned out so cute and fun... she loved it!

Wedding Guest Book

So last July I started this wedding guest sign in book. I got the order I think a couple weeks before the wedding, so I just made all the guest sign in pages. Later I got the pictures from the wedding and created the rest of the album. I really think it turned out lovely.

I thought it was going to be hard to work with the gold but it turned out to really be fun. The gold thread was a pain to work with but so very elegant. I also used a lot of gold Stickles (glitter glue), gold brads, crystals and fun ribbon to accent throughout the whole album. All the flourishes were cut using my Pazzles Inspiration.

I forget what brand of flowers I used, but I used my iTop to make all the flower centers. I seriously LOVE that tool and use it ALL the time... even in my crafting.

I used my Pazzles Inspiration to cut out their names and date. And then added Diamond Glaze to make them pop.

They had a left over sign in page so I added a picture to it.
I couldn't find gold embellishments I liked so I ended up painting a few of my silver one's with gold paint.

I also made another wedding guest book
in 2006 for my sister...

Magnet Board

I made this magnet board over Christmas for an old friend for a belated wedding gift and for Christmas. Unfortunately, it is still sitting here... I've been trying to find a box to ship it in. I don't really want it to brake.

I found the frame at Robert's and it already had the black flourishes on it. I also got the letters there which I painted red, distressed with black ink, added red Stickles and magnets. The flowers I made used a technique that I learned from my sister Kendra where you cut out various sizes of circles out of satin, burn the edges and then sew together. I added the red Stickles around all the edges for fun. I used my i-Top to make red satin buttons for the centers. Then I added this My Mind's Eye "HOME" sticker and the ribbon and viola... it was done! It was easy and fun to put together.

Friend Frame

This pretty frame was just a plain wood frame to begin with. But once I had a little fun altering it... it turned beautiful.

I altered this (and another) frame for my best friend, Jill Ashley for Christmas. It really was so fun. I started by Modge Podging some prettyMy Mind's Eye paper down, along with adding friend tag. with pop dots The flower was made using various circles of satin and burning the edges, then sewing them together. Add a few glittery flourishes and crystals and your done!! I LOVE how it turned out, I want one for myself.

Twilight Frame

I made this fun Twilight frame for Jill Ashley too. I didn't take a picture of it with the picture I later added because you would be laughing your butt off. Let's just say, we like Twilight! :)

I used also used My Mind's Eye paper along with the same technique for the flower and over all vibe. I REALLY love how this one turned out and I hope I make one for myself someday soon. :)
